Hello & Welcome!

Mary T Heffron deBrueys is a native of Victoria, Texas whose family moved to Baton Rouge in time for her to attend the Country Day School, St. Aloysius, St. Joseph's Academy, and LSU. After earning a bachelor's degree at LSU in Speech Pathology in 1976, she attended the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and earned a Master of Communication Disorders degree in 1977.

Mary T is a member of Sacred Heart and St. Aloysius Catholic church parishes. She has served as a Eucharistic Minister and, for 7 years, as facilitator of Cracked Pots … Blessed & Broken, a grief group for mothers who have lost adult children. She has been married to Jim deBrueys for 50 years and is mother of five children and  grandmother of eight grandchildren.

Mary T worked as a Language-Learning Specialist for 45 years in the greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas. During that time she co-authored 125 Ways to Be a Better Student, a study skills program published by Linguisystems, Inc. in 1986.

In 2020, Mary T published Jambos With James … A Mother's View of Loss, a memoir about the life and death of her son James. She went on in 2023 to publish Let's Talk! Antics of a Talking Pancake!, her first children's book. Her latest work, Leave Your Shoes And Ego At The Door … Now, In Humility, Cross The Threshold, was published by Covenant Books in fall 2025.

Mary T is available for retreats, presentations, assistance with formation of grief groups, and book signings.
