Mary T
Mary T Heffron deBrueys is a native of Victoria, Texas whose family moved to Baton Rouge in time for her to attend the Country Day School, St. Aloysius, St. Joseph’s Academy, and LSU. After earning a bachelor’s degree at LSU in Speech Pathology in 1976, she attended the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans and earned a Master of Communication Disorders degree in 1977.
Mary T is a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she has served as a Eucharistic Minister and serves as facilitator of Cracked Pots … Blessed & Broken, a grief group for mothers who have lost adult children.
Jim deBrueys and Mary T married in 1977, and together they raised five children and have six grandchildren. Mary T is a Language-Learning Specialist and was the founder and director of Peer+Plus LLC, a private practice providing psycho-educational evaluations for students of all ages in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas, as well as workshops and presentations for faculties, students, and parents. Study skills, organization, time management, and coping with grief from a parent perspective are Mary T's specialties.
Since retirement in August 2022 after 45 years as a Language-Learning Specialist, Mary T considers it a challenge and a gift to present to others on the death of children ~ with emphasis on Faith and the gratitude upon which she and her family rely to cope with unfathomable loss.
Mary T is devoted to family, which includes her six grandchildren. Dedication to writing and publishing is a passion that, since retirement, is afforded more time. She remains available to help with formation of grief groups for parents and offers presentations and book signings for her publications.
